About the Journal

The African Journal of Education for Sustainable Development (AfriJESD) is a multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed, and indexed publication focused on advancing Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Africa. 

Published quarterly in January, April, September, and December, the journal publishes original research on ESD theory, curriculum development, and pedagogical practices to foster sustainable African societies. 

AfriJESD bridges the gap between academic theory and practical application, serving as a platform for researchers and practitioners to share knowledge on creating sustainable futures through education.

Aims 

The African Journal of Education for Sustainable Development (AfriJESD) aims to cultivate sustainability in Africa by publishing research on the theory, practice, and policy of education for sustainable development (ESD) within the African context. Its goal is to promote sustainable cultures, behaviors, and practices through scholarly work relevant to the continent.

Scope 

The African Journal of Education for Sustainable Development focuses on the entire scope of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) initiatives in Africa, encompassing policy and program design, implementation, and evaluation. 

Research should also investigate how ESD addresses critical African themes like poverty, gender equality, disability inclusion, climate change, and environmental protection by fostering key competencies such as critical thinking and collaboration. 

The research should equally explore effective teaching methods, teacher training, and the role of educational institutions in promoting sustainable development across the continent.
